Infinite Campus Messaging System
East Mills CSD is excited to announce some fantastic improvements on how we communicate to our parents/students!
We know that as parents/guardians, you need to get the quickest and most accurate information possible regarding changes to school schedules to ensure that our students are safe. Recently we have discovered that SnowCap has not been able to meet our needs and we also recognize that not everyone has access to radio and television during the day for these types of announcements. We know it can be very frustrating to not receive important updates regarding school schedule changes, such as early dismissals, sports cancellations, as well as fun information about upcoming events in the school such as concerts, plays and assemblies.
We have added a new communication tool to our system and are exited to begin implementation. This new tool will allow parents/guardians to select how they want to be contacted when announcements are issued regarding school schedule changes and upcoming events. Choices will include voicemail messages sent to a home telephone or cell phone, text messages, or emails. These selections will be made on the Parent Portal, the same system that you used that the beginning of the year to register your students online.
You can also customize your notifications based on the type of message being sent: A General announcement might include messages about upcoming football games or vocal music concerts. A Priority announcement might be a reminder about upcoming Parent/Teacher Conferences or Iowa Assessment Tests. An Emergency message would cover weather cancellations/updates or changes in the bus schedule, as well as other emergency situations.
You can start to review your notification selections now on the Parent Portal, accessed on our web page, www.emschools.org. Parent Portal is located on the right-hand side of the webpage under the "Quicklinks" section If you don't remember your username and password, please contact either Leslie Foss at the Elementary at lfoss@emschools.org or (712)-624-8696 or Jen Shaw at the Jr/Sr High School at jshaw@emschools.org or (712)-624-8645. Once you have logged into Parent Portal, there will be a section located on the left-hand side of the page entitled, "Contact Preferences." It is in this area that you may select how you would like to be contacted by our new messaging service.
Our goal is to continuously improve our communication with this new tool and we hope that you explore the flexibility of those communications.
